Our Biggest Adventure Yet

Hello Friends and Family,

This Christmas Morning we will wake up, load the car, and start driving toward Denver, CO. It will be our fourth drive from Atlanta to Denver this year, but this trip comes with a little twist…

Once we get to Denver, we won’t be coming back to Atlanta.

We are Moving to Denver, CO!

Moving to Colorado has been a dream of our for over 8 years now and it actually happening! The house is sold, there are boxes all over the house, and we have a rental home in Denver already secured.

Courtney will be keeping her job as she works remotely and I will be transferring with my company to our Denver Office.

We will Miss Atlanta (But not the humidity)

Courtney has lived in Atlanta for almost 34 years and I have lived here almost 20 years. Almost half of my life has been spent here in Atlanta and as exited as we are to realize our dream, there is certainly some sadness that comes along with moving.

I often tell people that I was born in Nashville, TN; Raised in Fayetteville, NC; Forged in Mars Hill, NC; and Honed in Atlanta, GA. There are so many of us that “became adults” together.

Over the last 20 years we moved from sharing late nights in Buckhead, to watching each other get married, to celebrating the birth of our children, and in some cases mourning the loss of mothers and fathers.

One of my favorite songs starts with these lines:

What will I do when you're gone?
Who's gonna tell me the truth?
Who's gonna finish the stories I start
The way you always do?

When somebody knocks at the door
Someone new walks in
I will smile and shake their hands
But you can't make old friends

While I know that we will make new friends, each of you will forever have a place in our hearts.

If you are in the Atlanta Area, we are having a farewell gathering on 12/16/2023 from 3-5pm at Round Trip Brewing. RSVP at the link!

When Will We See You Again?

We will be back to Atlanta the last weekend in April for a wedding and hope to have enough time to gather again with many of you while we are in town.

Obviously, we are going to keep up via this newsletter and social media! And we hope you’ll continue to send us text messages and photos of your families.

The best part about living in a state where people come for vacation is HOSTING. We would love to have you come and stay with us in our guest room, enjoy the hot tub, and of course let us take you on an adventure in our new home state!

Our West Coast and Colorado Friends

Some of you reading this are SUPER excited because we are going to be closer to you for the first time ever. We can’t wait to be a part of your day to day lives and have dinners, hikes, and explore everything that Colorado has to offer.

Special thanks to Courtney’s aunt and uncle, David and Leslie Raith and of course Grammy for helping with Mills while I was interviewing with my new office.

Thanks to Tyler and Brenae Plain for taking time out of your day to give the best darn FaceTime tour of a rental home we have ever seen. (Also the only FaceTime tour of a rental home we have ever seen.)

Thank you to Brad and Katie Weaver for your encouragement and support even though we aren’t going to be neighbors in FoCo. Can you believe we were all in Alpharetta having lunch and talking about this just under 7 months ago!?

One Last Atlanta Adventure

Mills will never remember living in Atlanta, so I thought of a way to give him something that will forever tie him to this place.

No…not a tattoo.

I took him on his first ever summit hike. No matter where he goes in the world or how many mountains he climbs, his first will always be in Atlanta.
